RE-LEARNING EDUCATION

Drama and its performative nature, is a creative, purposeful and disciplined art.  It is a practice of developing trust in self and others and in working towards collective gain.  Drama, or creative play, is a key tool for understanding and expressing the world around us and our experience in and of it.  Working performatively involves creating and experiencing imaginary and potential worlds and scenarios.  Relationships are central to all dramatic action, and how we negotiate relationships with our self and others, with ideas and with our environment impacts our actual lived experience.  Through making ourselves vulnerable in front of an audience, we grow strength and courage to be ourselves.

Through expressive communication, key life skills of creativity and collaboration, lateral thinking and leadership, active awareness and risk taking are prioritised in a safe and supportive environment.  These skills are highly valued in our contemporary society and paramount to innovation and the healthful (re-)construction of identity.  Performance is fun and terrifying in equal measure, stimulates the senses and empowers the practitioner.

More than ever we need our young people physicalising in uncompetitive ways, providing them with methods to explore and release emotions in appropriate ways.  Mental anguish and emotional suffering are literally killing our children - they need and deserve skilled practitioners that can help them navigate the stress they are bombarded with.
